Getting to Know the Advanced Playmaker's Role

The Advanced Playmaker role is a more offensive type of Playmaker and is quite active in the opponent's defense area. This role is quite familiar to players who play as CM (center midfielder), AM (attacking midfielder), and sometimes also Winger. An  Advanced Playmaker has high technical demands. Both in terms of dribbling and making passes.

Because it has a more aggressive role, an Advanced Playmaker must often contribute to his team's attacks in the opponent's final third area. Either when carrying the ball or passing it to a teammate.

1. Martin Ødegaard (Arsenal)
