DiRT Rally 3 Canceled, CodeMasters Choose to Develop New WRC

We all know that CodeMasters is currently developing the most ambitious and biggest AAA game. Many fans believe that the game they are developing is DiRT Rally 3.

However, recent rumors claim that the development of DiRT Rally 3 was canceled and CodeMasters opted to develop a new World Rally Championship aka WRC franchise.

In 2022, CodeMasters got the rights to develop the WRC game from BigBen Interactive. On the day the deal was announced, CodeMasters said they were committed to sticking together and the DiRT Rally team was already working on their next project before the WRC agreement in 2023.

However, a source familiar with the CodeMasters project told Explorer that DiRT Rally 3 will be canceled at the end of 2022. This is supported by the renaming of all official accounts from DiRT at the beginning of the month EA Sports Rally.

They took this step to celebrate the efforts of EA game designer, John Armstrong as a Junior WRC racer. Under the CodeMasters deal, their first WRC is scheduled to launch before the end of March 2024.

Which is now believed to be the unannounced WRC game to be released in 2023, although development has run into some issues, particularly in the QA department. Until now, there is no further information when this game will be announced.
