Tencent Officially Becomes Majority Shareholder of Madrid-based Studio Tequila Works
Tencent began to expand its power globally. After previously acquiring Russian studio 1C Entertainment, Tencent is now expanding its power by becoming the majority investor in Studio Tequila Works.
On March 15, 2022, Madrid-based Tequila Works welcomed Tencent as the majority shareholder of their video game studio.
Tequila Works itself provides a statement regarding this.
“For 12 years, the team from Teqeuila Works has been working hard to create high-quality titles that reflect our personalities”, says CEO Raúl Rubio. “Even so, there is a limit to how far we can develop on our own.”
