Riot Games Sues Mobile Legends: Bang Bang For Plagiarism ️

Riot Games is suing Shanghai-based developer Mobile Legends: Bang Bang for plagiarizing Wild Rift, the mobile version of League of Legends.

Since launching the mobile version of the popular MOBA in 2022, Riot has been battling copycat mobile games. The last lawsuit was filed last May 9, with public documents uploaded on scribd.com. Riot Games filed a complaint about developer Moonton Games in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

This is the second time Riot has sued Moonton. In 2022, a case was dismissed by the California Central District Court due to jurisdictional issues. Tencent, Riot’s parent company, later sued the developer’s CEO for breach of a non-compete agreement in China and received $2.9 million (approximately 43 billion Rupiah) in settlement in 2022.

It could have ended in that case, but following the launch of Wild Rift in 2022, Moonton is reportedly issuing an exclusivity contract to benefit organizations that accept not competing in Wild Rift and competing in MLBB instead.
