Before the Switch actually launched in 2022, Nintendo’s main weapon of course was the 3DS and Wii U. But now the Switch is almost half a decade old.

The consoles before the Switch should have been at the end of their lives like the 3DS and Wii U. That’s right, Nintendo has now decided to leave the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U after the Switch is 5 years old.

Both the 3DS and Wii U were at their peak. Until now Nintendo still allows new games to come for the 3DS and Wii U, but at least this can happen until 2022.

Game release to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U coming to an end

Impact Game Station has received an email saying that all shipments made to the Wii U and 3DS eShops will be rejected after April 2022. The email makes it clear that the service will remain active, but for how long there is no confirmation on this.

Moreover, Nintendo has not provided an official statement on the matter. This has also happened to Sony with the previous PS Vita. Nintendo’s decision to end the release of the game for the 3DS and Wii U was predictable.

These years are the final days of the two previous consoles. However, these are just rumors for now, and if they are true then more emails like this will likely appear to developers over the coming weeks.
