Hackers Successfully Steal Source Code from FIFA 21 and Frostbite Engine

Through a joint interview with vice, EA confirmed that their data had been stolen by a hacker. According to reports, about 780 GB of EA’s data has been stolen and advertised for sale.

EA also said that they are currently investigating this. The EA data that the hacker managed to break was the source code of FIFA 21 and the Frostbite Engine. Of course this is an important asset belonging to EA.

On the other hand, EA insists that this hack will not harm players’ data. After this incident happened, they immediately stepped up security and didn’t expect any impact on their game or business.

Now, EA has been working closely with law enforcement and other experts as part of this ongoing criminal investigation. For those of you who don’t know, the Frostbite Engine itself is the technology that drives most of EA’s main games.

Games that have been successfully created by Frostbite Engine itself, such as NFL to Battlefield 2042. In addition to the source code for FIFA 21 and Frostbite Engine, hackers have also stolen EA’s development kits and development tools.

EA became the name of the next victim after CD Projekt and Capcom also experienced the same thing recently. EA is currently busy preparing Battlefield 2042 for next October.
