4 Months Purchased by EA, CEO of Codemasters Chooses to Leave the Studio
You must already know that Codemasters is now officially owned by EA. This is because recently they have succeeded in acquiring a developer with the ability to mix this racing game at a price of USD 1.2 billion or equivalent to IDR 16.9 trillion.
They won this acquisition after defeating an offer from Take-Two, which was also interested in buying the developer from F1 for USD 973 million or equivalent to IDR 13.7 trillion.
EA’s acquisition of Codemasters
This purchase immediately surprised fans. Given that EA is known as a company that likes to make it difficult for a studio they have bought to follow the policies they apply.
This fan’s concern was justified not too long ago. Where the price of F1 has increased dramatically from before since it was owned by EA. You can no longer buy the game at the standard price that has existed for a long time.
Codemasters CEO and CFO leave
At the beginning of the acquisition, the CEO of Codemasters ensured that this acquisition would not affect Codemaster at all and would stand as before. But it turned out to be wrong, now the CEO has officially left his studio.
Launching from GamesIndustry, Frank Sagnier as CEO and Rashid Varachia as CFO have officially left Codemasters and EA at the end of July. Along with this, it was revealed that Codemasters and Slightly Mad Studio would later be joining EA Sports.
Slightly Mad Studio itself is a subsidiary of Codemasters, which previously worked on Need for Speed Shift for EA. Finally, this position will be filled by Clive Moody and Jonathan Bunney as SVP Production and SVP Publishing.
