The Story of Hero Phoveus: A Revengeful Former Moniyan Warrior

In modern-day Moniyan, most of those sentenced to death would be sent to the battlefield. To be given such a glorious death is the last form of generosity from Moniyan to these unforgivable criminals.

That was where the fate of Phoveus was now, locked up in the prison in a carriage with several other inmates, and looking at the world outside the bars with a blank expression. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but the bones of the dead scattered along the road, the chirping of crows always sounded as if they were waiting for their meal to come. What a sad place, true to its name,
Barren Land (Bad land), Land of Despair.

There was nothing else that Phoveus could think of, all he had was a dark and suffering past. He actually has high ambitions, and plans to use his power to reclaim glory Imperial Moniyane. He has won various victories from the battles he has won. Phoveus’s many achievements could even be used to become the Captain for the eastern ranks of the Moniyan Empire, or so he thought.

However, his steps had to stop because the position he had dreamed of was actually taken over by the son of an official who had obtained a special position. Overcome with anger, Phoveus immediately looked for the official’s son to fight him in a duel, but he could not contain his anger and finally he killed the man in the duel, he was immediately sentenced to prison. In fact, his prison sentence has now been increased to a death sentence. Since then, he has been subjected to inhumane treatment as a prisoner. Until now he was finally transferred to the Barren Lands to carry out his final battle, serving his death sentence by battling the demons on the front line.

Phoveus’ reverie finally came to a halt after he arrived at the barracks. Soldiers pushed them off the carriage with long spears like cattle, lined up neatly, forming a new squad of troops with the name team on death row. Instead of the usual warrior outfits (nice armor and helmets), these convicts were only provided with dulled slashes, no defensive equipment at all. Even so, their job was to prevent the demonic power’s first and most violent attack.

It didn’t take long to prepare, the trumpet of war finally sounded. Phoveus stood in the first row at the very front and immediately started attacking the creatures that came out from the depths Abyss. One by one the comrades beside him began to fall, from the start they had understood that the blunt sword they were holding would not be able to withstand such a cruel demon attack. Stepping on the watery ground, Phoveus realized that the ground was now filled with the blood of his friends.

The demon warriors were extremely brutal and incomparable. Less warlike, the scene is more like a massacre, and Phoveus understands that his only chance to survive this heinous massacre is to become one of them. No matter how many enemies he annihilated before him, others always rose to take their place and came at him relentlessly. He desperately wanted to have great power, to survive, and to control his own destiny, he refused to give up and did not accept defeat. Even though his arms were now getting tired from the relentless fighting, his legs were weak, it was the strength of his will that forced him to keep fighting.

I don’t know how many demons Phoveus managed to kill, he has now started to lose consciousness, separated from the main army, Phoveus began to realize that his life was now coming to an end, sitting limp in a strange place, with a mysterious rock mound nearby. After splitting the last enemy’s head, Phoveus finally fell to the ground from exhaustion. When he raised his head, he saw something like a purplish light, a light shining not far from him.

Right at that moment, a strange power lifted Phoveus’ frail body off the ground, and led him to move once more. When he stopped, he found something unusual lying before him among the mysterious stones, something that looked like a cage. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to take it with him, but after touching it, the strange light inside went out and disappeared.

On his way back, Phoveus encountered a small group of soldiers who were also separated from the main army. They were very surprised by the sudden appearance of Phoveus.

“How is it possible for a death row inmate who was stationed on the front lines to return intact?” Said one of their comrades after seeing Phoveus’ body which was still fit after fighting Abyss in the forefront.

Without hesitation, They immediately greeted him warmly. Although not interested in bringing the weak like his comrades who had died in battle, Phoveus knew that he would not be able to survive alone in the Land of Despair. A burning hatred for his weak strength was now starting to fill his mind. Until finally a strange voice began to enter his head.

“Look at me, Phoveus…” The strange voice seemed to know what was going on in Phoveus’s mind.

“Who is that?” Turning his head to look for the source of the voice, Phoveus realized that no one else had heard him, or even made a sound.

“Listen to your heart, Phoveus. You want great power, don’t you?”

A low mutter continued across to Phoveus, and sounded inside his head. No one had mumbled like that in his life, his voice was deep and terrible, like the voice of the devil that many people told him when he was still in Moniyan. Phoveus then realized that it was possible that the voice was coming from a mysterious cage he had encountered in the middle of battle. And sure enough, the source of the sound came from the spirit confined in the cage it was carrying, the object emitting a strange light.

“Strength… It’s because I’m not strong enough. That’s why I ended up getting carried away by these lowly people. That’s why I can barely defend my own life in this cursed battlefield. My weak strength is the only reason I let those impudent military members manipulated me like this. If I was strong enough, I could escape the confines of this world.” Phoveus said with anger. The stone that he was holding was even shattered by an unstoppable emotion.

“Then accept my power, Phoveus. No one can match you with this power.” The demon answered with certainty.

As if he had heard his deepest thoughts, the demon’s voice grew clearer and clearer. Phoveus continued his life with the small group for a few days, the words of the imprisoned demon kept echoing in his mind. He wrapped his cage chains tightly around his shoulders, bringing them closer together to form the closest possible connection. Trying to connect with him directly, no longer able to contain his burning desire for power.

The day is getting darker, and the mountains Rantha Mountain now had faded the sunlight that passed over it. A crimson light pierced the cloud line, radiating across Phoveus. The blue sky slowly paved the way for the darkness of the night, and the fading warmth of the sun gave way to the cold air that radiated from the cold earth. People made bonfires and gathered around them, sharing mugs of Moniyan liquor to keep out the piercing cold.

As usual, Phoveus sat some distance away from the crowd. He watched as they happily ate dinner, the aromas of roast beef and liquor wafted along with the blazing fire, the sound of their loud laughter, all these things combined to attack his senses. Now, he had made his decision, and could no longer stand hanging out with half-crazy people like them.

“Give me your sight, and my power will be yours!”

This time, when the voice started to ring again, Phoveus didn’t hesitate. He stood up and held the cage up high, and within it, the spirit formed eyes that opened to emit a blinding purple light. The radiance of that formidable power flooded Phoveus’ body and spread around him, the light so intense that it burned his own eyes. Yet now, the unearthly power implanted within him allowed Phoveus to feel everything around him extraordinarily clearly.

Phoveus was finally reborn, with his new power, he came to the group of soldiers and instantly killed them all without a trace. The new power that welled up within him made Phoveus feel incomparable, and he lifted his head with a laugh. All his suffering had been replaced by great happiness, but it was still far from enough. His destiny was still hanging by the cage he was holding.

“It’s me, Astaros, God of Terror. Go inside
Dread Caves, and awaken my sleeping body in it, Phoveus. Then I will give you even more power!”

Phoveus looked at the cage arrogantly, and snorted disdainfully. Then, he went on a journey towards the south towards
Abyss.

~End~

Tremble in my presence

Shake in front of me

I will crush your hope!

I will destroy your hopes!

You don’t pull strings herostaros, I do

You didn’t take the herostaros rope, I did it

Now, I see through everything

Now, I can see everything

My power bends all wills

My power bends all desires

Do you hear the darkness speak its whisper tongue?

Do you hear the devil speak from the whisper of the tongue?

The cage the weak with the word fate

The cage will be weak with the words of fate

Unseizable, ac tenebras!

Darkness, impassable!

Your fear will be my guidance

Your fear will be my guide

I see the unresting souls

I see restless souls

The world is unworthy for me

This world is worthless to me

Fear is always within you

Fear will always be within you

We all seek power, but all except one will become its slave

We all seek strength, but one will become his slave

Loyalty is the only thing weaklings can offer

Loyalty is the only thing a weak person can offer

Death:

This won’t be my end

This can’t be my end
